I'm Fabricio Salazar, a Software Engineer from Costa Rica 🇨🇷

Software Engineer with 12+ years of experience working with clients across different industries and across the stack, from frontend and backend development to cloud infrastructure and testing. Over the years, my role has evolved into technical leadership, where I combine technical work with leading teams, driving project delivery, managing risks, mentoring engineers, and working closely with stakeholders.

While I'm still passionate about the technical side, my focus today goes beyond writing code. I enjoy helping teams make good technical decisions, understanding the real needs of the business, and making sure we deliver the right solutions. I'm flexible with tools and technologies, and I believe technology should serve the problem, not the other way around. More recently, I've been exploring AI engineering and learning how AI can be applied to real world software products.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active at the gym, playing the drums, exploring nature, and spending quality time with my wife, family, and my crazy dogs.

    My role at Gorilla Logic has evolved from software development into leading an engineering team while remaining actively involved in the technical work. I'm responsible for the team's delivery and day to day execution, including sprint planning, prioritizing work, coordinating estimations, leading Scrum ceremonies, managing risks and dependencies, and working closely with product and business stakeholders. I also mentor engineers, support their growth, and help the team make technical decisions. On the technical side, I remain involved in software design, architecture, development, and solving complex problems across the stack. AI is also part of my day to day work. I use it throughout the software development process, as well as to improve workflows, automate repetitive tasks, support planning and decision making, and make my leadership responsibilities more efficient.
